BBC Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw visits the Barts Centre

"Wow", "mindblowing"... BBC Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw on a tour of our cancer research labs.

The breakfast show presenter visited us as part of Radio 1 and 1Xtra's #1millionhours campaign and saw our -80°C freezers where samples are stored and spoke to our researchers about their projects.

Tactics to overcome mesothelioma treatment resistance

Pioneering work in our labs has led to a new "starvation" treatment strategy for mesothelioma, previously almost untreatable due to the difficulty of performing effective surgery and lack of available drugs.

Dr Sarah Martin has published new work on how mesothelioma could get around the attack with a view to preventing resistance and killing the cancer more efficiently...

British 10k London Run BCI Charity Challenge 2016

On 10th July, BCI had five charity runners taking part in the Vitality British 10K Run. The runners relished this rare opportunity to run through the closed streets of London, passing some of the city's most famous landmarks, and raising vital funds for the BCI while they were at it.

A big thank you to all our runners for their fundraising efforts and congratulations on completing the course!
