Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund Tissue Bank at BCI on BBC News

The world’s first national tissue bank for pancreatic cancer has launched in the UK here at BCI, to help push forward research into the cancer with the bleakest prognosis, and was featured on BBC News yesterday.

The resource will allow researchers to answer more questions about this still deadly form of cancer, and hopefully lead to new effective treatments for patients...

A new collaborative study that could ultimately lead to new treatments for follicular lymphoma (FL) patients was published yesterday in Nature Genetics.

BCI at the EACR Epigenetics conference

The 1st Basic Epigenetic Mechanisms in Cancer conference was held in Berlin last month, organised by the European Association for Cancer Research.

Our postdoctoral researcher from Dr Gabi Ficz's research group, Dr Emily Saunderson, attended the event as both a delegate and reporter. She produced a comprehensive summary of the meeting for the epigenetics-focused organisation EpiGenie.

Online Charity Christmas Auction 2015

The BCI Christmas Auction was a fantastic success, raising £1,250 for the Bridge to the Future scheme!

Nearly 40 items went under the virtual hammer; donations came from celebrities, sports starts, local businesses and national corporations. We thank everyone who donated, who gave their time as volunteers, and who bid for the items!

Pancreatic Cancer UK grants for five BCI group leaders

New grants from the charity Pancreatic Cancer UK will fund five projects here at BCI that aim to improve treatment options for pancreatic cancer patients.

The grants come from two separate schemes run by the charity and we are extremely grateful to all its supporters who have made these awards possible.

Funding secured to revolutionise personalised prostate cancer treatments

Barts Charity have funded a new project led by Dr Gunnel Halldén in our Centre for Molecular Oncology. This work aims to develop a method to test new combinations of cancer treatments on prostate cancer.

Ultimately they hope to use the test for individual patients, to provide personalised therapies...

Trans-Atlantic Pancreatic Cancer
