BBC Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw visits the Barts Centre

"Wow", "mindblowing"... BBC Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw on a tour of our cancer research labs.

The breakfast show presenter visited us as part of Radio 1 and 1Xtra's #1millionhours campaign and saw our -80°C freezers where samples are stored and spoke to our researchers about their projects.

BCI researchers and SMD colleagues took part in the Pint of Science festival once again this year.

The aim is to unweave the complexity of current research topics for the benefit of a non-scientific audience in a casual setting (over a pint, probably, in a pub)...

It's World Cancer Day today, so cancer charities, researchers and patients unite to affirm that we can all help in the fight against cancer.

Whether it's through research, donations, caring for patients or family, educating on lifestyle and symptom awareness, or any other contribution - everyone can play a part. We are all affected.

Online Charity Christmas Auction 2015

The BCI Christmas Auction was a fantastic success, raising £1,250 for the Bridge to the Future scheme!

Nearly 40 items went under the virtual hammer; donations came from celebrities, sports starts, local businesses and national corporations. We thank everyone who donated, who gave their time as volunteers, and who bid for the items!

BCI STARS 2015

Twenty-five school students aged 16-17 (year 12) joined us in July, having just completed their AS levels, to take part in the BCI STARS course - a one-week intensive practical course in general research laboratory skills.

STARS 2015 was a huge success aided in no small way by an award of £1000 from the Biochemical Society...
