Exploiting vascular promotion in pathological disease control.

Our laboratory has shown previously that increasing tumour blood vessel numbers using low dose cilengitide in combination with verapamil can actually increase tumour growth control by reducing hypoxia and increasing tumour cell sensitisation to nucleoside analogues.

My main project is to use a CRIPSR screen to identify novel vascular promotion/chemosensitisation targets. Additionally, I am investigating the utility of this approach in the treatment of other fibrotic diseases.
