Leading the next generation of radiotherapy research

Cancer Research UK (CRUK) have today announced the launch of a new £56 million research network that will accelerate the development of advanced radiotherapy techniques in the UK. The network, named ‘RadNet,’ will pioneer the use of the latest technologies in world-first research projects with the aim of improving cancer survival by optimising and personalising radiotherapy.

Breaking down the barrier

The Medical Research Council has awarded Dr Godinho a £600,000 project grant to fund vital research on pancreatic cancer, that will investigate ways to tackle the impenetrable barrier that surrounds pancreatic tumours, in the hope of identifying targets for therapeutic intervention.

Understanding familial leukaemia

In 2014, the charity Bloodwise awarded a 5-year programme grant to a team from Queen Mary University of London to support research to better understand the nature of the faulty genes responsible for an inherited/familial predisposition to MDS/AML.

New research funded by PCRF

19th July 2019

The Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is supporting two new research projects at the Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London. The projects, led by Professor Hemant Kocher and Dr Gunnel Halldén, will aim to identify ways to enhance the efficacy of treatments for pancreatic cancer, to ultimately help those affected by this devastating disease.
