We spoke to Professor Richard Grose about his lab's latest study, which uses mini-tumours to understand how pancreatic cancer coerces normal cells to help it spread to other tissues. The new paper has been featured on the cover of the latest issue of the Journal of Pathology.
Professor Grose says:
"I think the work will make a difference to patients in the long run, because it helps us to understand how pancreatic cancer invades – not just from the cancer cell perspective, but also how the surrounding cells are co-opted to drive the invasive process. Understanding those pathways means we can think about how to block those pathways."
This work was made possible thanks to funding from Cancer Research UK and Barts Charity.
